On Windows, if you delete a file from hard drive partition, it is still possible to recover the file from Recycle Bin. If you accidently deleted photos, videos or important document files from your computer, USB drive, SD card or anything else or even if you delete the file permanently from the Recycle Bin, you can still recover it because the file is never really deleted and Windows just mark the space the file occupies as available for new data storage.
The bad news is that you can’t restore deleted files from external USB drives, Flash drives, etc. Even, if you are quite smart and prefers to use Shift+Delete instead of Delete to trash a file, which permanently removes the file from PC then also you can’t restore it from Recycle Bin.
But good news is that, This task which is quite complex but Recuva, a free file recovery program by Piriform makes it to restore those files very easily.
Step #1: Download Recuva and install it on your Computer
Step #2: Run the Recuva app and proceed to the steps provided at Recuva wizard by clicking “Next” button.
Step #3: Now select what you want to restore. If you’re not sure about file name, just select ‘All Files’ option, click on Next button.
Step #4: Specify the location from where you’ve deleted your file, if you’re not sure, you can either click on browse and choose the hard-disk partition, USB Drives, etc.
Step #5: The wizard now asks you to either tick Enable Deep Scan check-box or proceed to quick scan by simply clicking on Start button. I recommend you to first don’t select the check-box, usually quick scan can find your files. Save the option for the next time, if scan fails.
After scan completes, it will show you all deleted photos/files, Select the file, either right-click on it and choose recover option or press Recover button available at bottom-right corner. You can even select and restore more than one files at a time.
