Check-out 15 Great Upcoming Google R&D Tech Projects

Featured 7 Sep , 2013

Today’s post is about 15 upcoming, real-life products that is set to revolutionize the world as we know it. Get ready to control the desktop and slice Ninja fruits with your eyes. Get ready to print your own creative physical product. Get ready to dive into the virtual world, and interact with them. Come unfold the future with us.

Google’s side projects tend to have a forward focus. The company pours resources into researching everything from space elevators to robots–and, of course, pinpointing what all of us will be doing or using in the future. Let’s take a look at ten items that Google is putting resources into developing.

So here, from my research, I am serving you with the most excited Google’s Future Projects as well as those projects which are very useful but you might don’t know about it.

1. Oculus Rift

Virtual Reality gaming is here in the form of Oculus Rift. This history-defining 3D headset lets you mentally feel that you are actually inside a video game. In the Rift’s virtual world, you could turn your head around with ultra-low latency to view the world in high resolution display.

2. SmartThings

The current problem that most devices have is that they function as a standalone being, and it require effort for tech competitors to actually partner with each other and build products that can truly connect with each other. SmartThings is here to make your every device, digital or non-digital, connect together and benefit you.

3.Google Glasses

Augmented Reality has already gotten into our life in the forms of simulated experiment and education app, but Google is taking it several steps higher with Google Glass. Theoretically, with Google Glass, you are able to view social media feeds, text, Google Maps, as well as navigate with GPS and take photos. You will also get the latest updates while you are on the ground.

4. Google Robots

Google, inside its Top Secret Research Lab, Google [x] is having special Robots to perform many tasks. Though, there are not any incidence of having T-1000s of robots being build underground Silicon Valley.

Google is improving the efficiency of these Google Bots to perform as much tasks as they can (like, making coffee, copies etc) to provide more flexibility to humans so that they can work remotely and focus on higher level duties.

5.Google Driveless Cars

I could still remember the day I watch the iRobot as a teen, and being skeptical about my brother’s statement that one day, the driverless car will become reality. And it’s now a reality, made possible by… a search engine company, Google. So, Google Inc., the company which is providing street-level data for all location will now take you to your destination as well.

6. Google’s Space Elevators

Space Elevator is one of the most ambitious Project which will change the way we travel to space. Believe it or not, Google Space Elevator would allow you to leave earth’s atmosphere without the help of any rocket propulsion. Google already holds a patent for this upcoming technology.

This revolutionary technology will use carbon nano-tubes which are light weighted as well as very powerful for ‘cables’ to carry load from earth to outer space.

the space elevator may well replace rockets in 50 years.

7. Google Fiber

A different kind of internet. It is a Google’s attempt to become most powerful Internet Service Provider [ISP] by serving “a connection speed of 100 times faster than today’s broadband services”. The statement from Google reminds me the day when Google introduced new GMail with 100 times more storage than other email providers with much better features.

Google Fiber – A Different Kind of Internet

Google Fiber looks like an excellent service which is very cost effective as well. It will be available for just $70/month and users get the features like:

  • Upload/Download (up to 1GB)
  • No Data Caps
  • 1 year contract
  • 1TB Google Drive Storage
  • Box included

8. Google X Phones from Motorola

Google has acquired Motorola on August 2011 but due to extremely high mobile market competition, Motorola has not done profitable business yet. But now, Google is going to introduce Google X Phones which will have a strong battery life with more resilient features.

Google X Phone Concept

Google X phones are expected to release on second half of 2013. More features are yet to reveal but we expect to witness new and innovative features.

9. Google Nexus Tabs

Google has introduced its very first tablet as Nexus 7 which was estimated to have sold for around 4.6 Millions in 2012. The latest Nexus 10 was released in November 2012. Now, the company is going to release new model of Google Nexus 7 Tablet which has a  target to sell  as much as 8 Million units.

10. Google News 2.0

Google News complies all its headlines from the search algorithm they are using in which, they collects news from recognized websites that were earlier approved by Google News but now, Google is working on making its News much more user-friendly.

They are about to introduce Google News 2.0 which will allow users to personalize news content and filter them much more effectively.  Google News 2.0 Filters will be having:

  • Liberal (stories about the environment, marijuana legalization, and black children getting slapped by white teachers)
  • Conservative (direct link to Fox News)
  • Nancy Grace (murky inaccurate reportage on rapes, kidnappings, and babies in microwaves)
  • The New Yorker (same as liberal but with theater reviews and cartoon dogs)

11. Clean Energy

Developing and providing Clean Renewable Source of energy is one of the most serious target of Google.ORG (Google’s Non-Profit Arm). They are working on providing energy from renewable resources such as solar energy, wind power etc.

The project concentrates on solar-powered turbine engines and low costs heliostats (mirrors that track solar energy) to generate electricity. Google Inc. is making effort to map world’s geothermal power needs and facilitating energy resource that will be much cheaper than coal.

12. Google Talking Shoes

Google unveiled an early prototype of motion sensing “smart shoes” that is having speaker attached that can yell motivation at you when you’re being lazy. The shoes were developed as a part of experiment. It includes an accelerometer, gyroscope and bluetooth connectivity to connect with mobiles, tablets, laptops etc.

It measures your active levels and movements, the speaker on the shoe allows it to spit out one of 250 pre-recorded phrases that either praise your hustle and bustle or rag on your laziness.

13. Google SmartWatch

Recently, I came across another rumored gadget of the company, Google SmartWatch. Very similar to Google Glass, Google SmartWatch is another wearable gadget form the brand. According to the details, we have collected, the smartwatch will be having lots of features including Google Now, Google Maps, Network, Connectivity, Apps etc. The wristwatch will probably end the need of Smartphones as the gadget will hold all the features.

Google Smartwatch can be compared with Apple’s rumored iWatches.

14. Form 1

Just as the term suggests, 3D printing is the technology that could forge your digital design into a solid real-life product. It’s nothing new for the advanced mechanical industry, but a personal 3D printer is definitely a revolutionary idea.

Everybody can create their own physical product based on their custom design, and no approval needed from any giant manufacturer! Even the James Bond’s Aston Martin which was crashed in the movie was a 3D printed product!

15. Eye Tribe

Eye tracking has been actively discussed by technology enthusiasts throughout these years, but it’s really challenging to implement. But Eye Tribe actually did this. They successfully created the technology to allow you to control your tablet, play flight simulator, and even slice fruits in Fruit Ninja only with your eye movements.

The Gadget is currently available only for Developers (hidden from normal users). It seems exciting isn’t it ???
